Optimism USDT Changed: USDT0 vs OPUSDTE Explained
Binance completed the Optimism USDT contract swap; legacy Optimism USDT is now OPUSDTE and old-token withdrawals are unsupported.
Crypto Support & Research Desk
Binance completed its USDT contract swap on Optimism on September 18, 2026. Deposits and withdrawals for the new Optimism USDT are open, while the legacy token is identified as OPUSDTE.
What happens to old Optimism USDT
Binance says users can deposit old Optimism USDT, now labeled OPUSDTE, and convert it 1:1 into the new Optimism USDT. Withdrawals of the old OPUSDTE token are no longer supported.
How to avoid sending the wrong contract
Do not identify a stablecoin only by the ticker shown in a wallet. Verify the token contract and the exchange’s current deposit instructions. If you hold legacy Optimism USDT in self-custody, check the supported conversion route before moving it.
Why the migration matters
Stablecoin contract changes can create confusing balances, wrong-token deposits and fake migration links. Users should use official exchange or issuer instructions and should never approve an unknown contract simply because it claims to upgrade USDT.
